For Schools

How Cherish Can Support Your Primary School

At Cherish, we believe that every child deserves the best possible start in life, and we understand that schools play a vital role in supporting families.

If a Cherish project is established in your area, we can work closely with your school to provide tailored support for families who are struggling, helping to bridge the gap between the resources schools can offer and the higher thresholds for social services.

If there isn’t yet a Cherish project in your area, we’d love to explore starting one with your help.

How Cherish Would Work With Your School

If a Cherish Project Exists in Your Area:
When a Cherish project is active in your community, we can partner with your school to support families in the following ways:

1. Referring Families for Support

  • If you identify families in need of extra help, our Cherish Co-ordinator can meet with them (with their consent) to provide practical support, connect them to resources, or involve trained volunteers for hands-on assistance.

  • We’ll work collaboratively with you to ensure these families receive ongoing care, offering regular updates (with permission).

3. Leading Assemblies and Workshops

  • Our Co-ordinator can visit your school to run assemblies or workshops for students, addressing key challenges children may face, such as managing anxiety, family changes, or building resilience.

  • These sessions promote understanding and provide students with practical tools and information about where they can seek help.

2. Raising Awareness Among Families

  • We can provide your school with materials to share with parents, including flyers, posters, or digital content for newsletters and social media.

  • Our Cherish Co-ordinator can attend parent events, such as coffee mornings or information evenings, to introduce families to our services.

4. Collaborating on Local Projects

  • Schools are vital partners in shaping Cherish projects. By joining the local Cherish Project Team, your school can contribute insights into the challenges families face and help create initiatives that directly address their needs.

If a Cherish Project Does Not Yet Exist in Your Area

If there isn’t currently a Cherish project in your community, we’d love to explore the possibility of starting one with your school’s support. Here’s how you can help:

1. Partner to Establish a Local Project

Schools play a key role in identifying the needs of families and rallying local support. By partnering with Cherish, you can help lay the groundwork for a project that could provide transformative support for families in your area.

2. Raise Awareness and Build Partnerships

We rely on schools to spread the word about Cherish to local churches, community organisations, and potential supporters. Together, we can gather the resources needed to launch a sustainable local project.

3. Collaborate with Local Stakeholders

Once a project is established, schools become key members of the Cherish Project Team. This team includes representatives from local churches, schools, and families, who meet monthly to shape the project’s direction and ensure it addresses real needs.
